NEWS IN MAY 2008
We’ve prepared something special for connoisseurs and general fans of two or more winged aircraft. On the occasion of the 90th anniversary of the death of the Red Baron, Manfred von Richthofen, we have combined our new and anticipated Dr.I with the older but proven Albatros D.V. into a special Richthofen package. Included are resin figures of the brothers Richthofen and Manfred’s dog Maurice, a downsized Pour le Merite (1:3 scale), some photoetched brass and a relevant markings sheet. There are also portraits of both Manfred and Lothar von Richthofen. It should be noted that planes and figures are all 1:48th scale. Its not the cheapest package, but certainly a good investment. Nothing comparable, in my opinion, has yet appeared in the market, nor is it likely to. The modeling world will see something quite rare with this set, and the likelihood of this edition growing roots on stock or retail shelves is pretty minimal.

Furthermore, there will also be a small run of a more specialized boxing. A hundred pieces will be complimented by a full sized Pour le Merite, and the box itself will be red. This edition will not be released to stores, and will only be available through our internet shop. Those who would be interested in this edition shouldn’t waiver too long, there will really not be many available. When we introduced this concept in Mosonmagyarovár, interest that it sparked exceeded our expectations. The kit, with catalog number 1136X, will be available from our webstore starting May 15, 2008.
May will see the release of one further Avia B.534, a series III aircraft in a weekend edition. It is a typical weekend offering, one attractive marking options sans brass or masks. Don’t look for any extras, just a nice kit at a pleasant price.

Due to popular demand, we are preparing another run of the Fulmar Mk.II in the Limited Edition boxing. No big surprises here, either….the kit is well known, but thanks to the size of the production run, an adjustment to the price has been made.
OTHER KITS
You’re probably asking yourself weather or not the Dr.I will see the light of day as a regular Eduard release. After all, to initially release a kit as a Limited Edition is a bit unorthodox. The answer is yes, it will, likely in August, and possibly as a Dual Combo kit.

Royal Class Bf 110 camouflages |
An important and interesting release will come in June, with the release of the royal Class Bf 110. Kits in this range are typically very popular and successful, and the 110s are likely to follow suite. This Royal Class kit will include two full kits with parts to build the C, D or E model, including the longer fuselage of the D and E, tropical engine cowls with the large radiator intakes, FuG 202, FuG 220 and FuG 212+SN-2z radar antennas, and sand filters for the carburetor intakes. As you can see, the Royal Class kit offers parts not seen in the other boxings, and will be used to advantage with respect to the marking options. These will total twelve, by the way. The extensive photoetched frets are a given, but there will also be two other bonuses. One will be the Iron Cross replica, which will be replaced by resin exhausts and ammunition drums in kits sold in Germany. The second bonus will be a 1:4 scale instrument panel of the Bf 110. Perhaps, this will be a bit of a surprise, but rest assured that this piece, when finished, is quite monumental, and it will impress!
While on the topic of the 110s, it should be noted that the quantity of the Bf 110E in our stock is dwindling, and if you are thinking of getting one of our Dachshunds, your chances are nearing an end.
As long as I have revealed the planned release schedule for June and August, it only makes sense to mention July. This month will see the release of the Dual Combo boxing of the Hellcat Mk.I and Mk.II. Not much more to add here…
MAY PHOTOETCH
As usual, the new offerings of photoetching is quite extensive. After some time, we are coming out with a set of figures for ships in 1:350th scale. First and foremost, I would like to draw your attention to a set of figures for civilian ships. This is a very interesting set.
New sets for AFVs in 1:35th scale, besides more sets for the Sd.Kfz.250/1 (how many have there been already?), there are two sets for Tamiya’s IS-2, and another set for the same kit can be found among the new Zoom sets.

All new 1:32nd scale sets are designed for Trumpeter kits, two for their Hellcat and one for the P-47D Thunderbolt.

As has become the case so frequently, most new releases are geared towards 1:48th scale aircraft. There is a total of seven, four of which are destined for use on the Academy F-15E. The new items are rounded out with a landing flap set for the F4F-3 Wildcat from Hobby Boss, a set for A-10 armament from the same manufacturer, and a set for Hasegawa’s A6M5c Zero. This one might be a bit of a surprise, but it is deigned for the new retooled model of the Zeke.

In 1:72nd scale, it would appear that it is ‘bomber month’. There are four sets for the B-17E from Academy, and a fifth for Trumpeter’s Wellington.

And finally, I shouldn’t forget the new Big Ed foursome. All four should prove generally popular, so take a look!
